Deadly Listeria Outbreak Linked to Deli Meat
CDC and FDA Reopen Investigation as Cases Rise
Protect Yourself: What You Need to Know
The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a warning about a deadly multistate listeria outbreak connected to deli meat. The CDC and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reopened the investigation in January 2024 after new illnesses were reported in December 2023. As of February 6, 2024, a total of 26 people infected with the outbreak strain of Listeria have been reported from 11 states.
When it was announced this week that two people had died from listeriosis after consuming contaminated deli meat, the news sent shivers down the spines of consumers across the nation.
