Houston Prepares for the Worst as Hurricane Season Approaches

Increased Flooding Events and Recent Devastation Demand Preparation

For Greater Houston, hurricane season is an especially stressful time. Since 2014, the area has witnessed seven major flooding events that have left a lasting impact. The most recent, Tropical Storm Beryl, ripped through the heart of Houston on Monday, July 8th, 2024, turning roads into rivers and leaving behind a trail of destruction.

Next Afternoon Became Category 1 Hurricane

Initially a tropical storm, Beryl rapidly intensified into the first hurricane of the season just one afternoon after its initial formation. By the next morning, it had reached Category 1 status with wind speeds of 75 mph and was on a direct path toward the Houston area.
