Early Life and Career
Birth and Education
Nerlens Noel was born on April 10, 1994, in Everett, Massachusetts. He attended the Tilton School in Tilton, New Hampshire, where he excelled in basketball.
College Career
Noel played one season of college basketball at the University of Kentucky. As a freshman, he averaged 10.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. He was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Year and a consensus All-American.
NBA Career
Noel was selected with the sixth overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. He played for the 76ers from 2013 to 2017, the Dallas Mavericks from 2017 to 2018, the Oklahoma City Thunder from 2018 to 2019, and the New Orleans Pelicans from 2019 to 2022. He most recently played for the Brooklyn Nets during the 2022-2023 season.
Accomplishments
Throughout his NBA career, Noel has established himself as a solid defender and rebounder. He has been named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team twice (2015, 2016) and has averaged over 8 rebounds per game for his career.
